Nine years ago, I wrote about my love for the moody adolescent series in the Star Trek franchise family, Deep Space Nine – which started more than thirty years ago! The crossover between this instalment of ‘Trek and the goth subculture is, I think, notably significant.
Since then, I’ve doubled-down and started a fortnightly podcast discussing each episode of the acclaimed show. I am lucky enough to be joined by the ever-patient Kat Baudelaire, with whom I helmed a goth music student radio show in Leeds many years ago.
Kat has obsessively consumed all of TNG but is now embarking on their very first viewing of the second sequel to The Original Series – an opportunity to get a refreshingly new view on the show to contrast with my own, which is distant memories of seeing DS9 when it was first syndicated in the UK!
You can watch brief summaries of each podcast discussion on this playlist (do subscribe to my channel for regular updates) or join us live over on Twitch and take part in the conversation yourself! Be warned, we are consummate ramblers – some of the earlier YouTube episodes show you we can easily go two hours on one 45-minute episode!
I hope we’ve intrigued you nonetheless, and we’ll see you out on the Federation frontier sometime soon…
